Format and Points System
The 38 teams are split into two divisions. The Elite division has 32 teams in four groups of eight, and the Plate division has six teams in one group.
- Each Elite team plays the other seven teams in its group once.
- The top two teams in each Elite group reach the quarter-finals.
- The team that finishes last across the Elite division is relegated to the Plate, and the Plate winners are promoted for next season.
- Jammu and Kashmir are the defending champions after winning their first title in 2025-26, when they beat Karnataka in the final.
| Result | Points |
|---|---|
| Outright win | 6 |
| Bonus point for a win by an innings or by 10 wickets | 1 extra |
| Draw with a first-innings lead | 3 |
| Draw with a first-innings deficit | 1 |
| Defeat | 0 |
So the most a team can take from one match is 7 points. When teams finish level on points, the quotient (runs scored per wicket divided by runs conceded per wicket) separates them.
