This Editorial Policy explains how SportzClaus researches, writes, checks, updates and corrects the articles on sportzclaus.com. SportzClaus is known as SportsClaus on social media, and the same standards apply to everything we publish under both names.

Our mission

We want to be the place where a sports fan finds one complete, correct answer. That means full schedules, full squads, clear explainers and honest news, written in simple language and kept up to date. You can read more about us on our About Us page.

What we publish

  • Guides: schedules, squads, captains, venues, formats and tournament explainers.
  • IPL coverage: retentions, released players, auctions, purse calculations and team news.
  • News: confirmed announcements from leagues, boards, teams and game developers.
  • Explainers and records: stats, history and how competitions work.
  • Gaming: release news and guides for cricket and sports video games.

What we do not publish

  • Match predictions, betting tips or fantasy team picks.
  • Rumours presented as facts. If a story is a report and not yet confirmed, we say so and name the source.
  • Content written only to collect clicks, such as misleading headlines or copies of other websites’ work.
  • Paid articles that are not clearly labelled as sponsored.

Who writes our articles

Every article is credited to a named writer, and each writer has an author page that lists their work. Our writers are Gurlal Dhillon (founder and editor), Rohit Sarkar (cricket and football) and Nilendu Brahma (gaming). Gurlal Dhillon reviews articles before they are published and is responsible for what appears on the site.

Sources we use

We build our articles from primary and official sources wherever possible:

  • Governing bodies and leagues, such as the BCCI, IPL, ICC, FIFA, AIFF and the Olympic Council of Asia.
  • Official team, player and tournament announcements, including verified social media accounts.
  • Official statements and release notes from game developers and publishers.
  • Respected news organisations, always credited when a fact comes from their reporting.

When we embed a social media post, it comes from an official or verified account, so readers can see the original announcement for themselves.

How we check facts

  • Names, dates, venues, scores and prices are checked against an official source before publication.
  • Match times are given in Indian Standard Time (IST) unless we say otherwise.
  • Squad and schedule tables are checked line by line against the official lists.
  • Numbers such as auction purses and retention costs are recalculated by hand, not copied.
  • If two sources disagree, we use the official one and mention the difference where it matters.

How we use AI, and where people decide

We use modern tools where they genuinely help, and we would rather tell you exactly how our work is made than make a claim we cannot stand behind.

  • Where AI assists: AI tools may help us gather and organise research, arrange statistics and squad data, suggest an outline for a draft and check spelling and grammar.
  • Where people decide: a named writer chooses the story, verifies every fact, writes and edits the article and puts their name to it. What we cover, what we claim and how we frame a story are always human decisions.
  • Nothing is published unchecked: no article, table or player list goes live until a person has read it in full and checked it against the sources.
  • Accountability: the writer credited on an article is responsible for it. If something is wrong, a person got it wrong, and a person will correct it.

Keeping articles up to date

Sports information changes quickly. Squads are announced late, fixtures move and rules change. When that happens, we update the existing guide rather than publishing a new copy of the same story.

When an update changes the main facts of a story, such as a new release date or a changed squad, we say so in the article and give the date of the update.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. You can report an error through our Contact Us page or by emailing sportsclaus20@gmail.com. Please tell us the article and what needs to change.

  • We check every report against official sources.
  • Small fixes, such as spelling or formatting, are corrected without a note.
  • When we correct a fact, such as a name, date, number or result, we add a correction note at the end of the article saying what changed.
  • If a whole article turns out to be wrong, we update or remove it and explain why.

Headlines and images

Our headlines must match what the article actually says. We do not use headlines that promise something the article does not deliver.

We use images that we have the right to use, such as our own graphics, official media material and licensed or free to use photos. If you believe an image on SportzClaus belongs to you and was used without permission, contact us and we will review it quickly.

Independence and advertising

SportzClaus is owned and run by Gurlal Dhillon. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any league, board, team, betting company or game publisher.

We may show advertising to keep the website free. Advertisers and partners never decide what we cover or what we say. Any sponsored article or paid partnership is clearly labelled as sponsored, and we do not accept advertising for betting or gambling.

Reader comments

We welcome comments and discussion. We remove comments that contain abuse, hate speech, personal attacks, spam, links to betting or gambling, or other people’s private information.
